If you’re deciding between the 2025 Ram 1500 and the 2026 Ram 1500, understanding how to compare them properly will help you make a confident choice. While both trucks share a strong foundation of capability and modern technology, small differences in availability, refinement, and pricing can influence your decision. Here’s a practical step-by-step guide to help you evaluate both model years.
Step 1: Compare Engine Options
Both the 2025 and 2026 Ram 1500 feature the Hurricane twin-turbo inline-six engine lineup. Start by confirming which engine configuration is available in your preferred trim. Review horsepower, torque, and towing ratings to ensure the truck meets your workload or recreational needs.
Step 2: Review Trim Availability
Not every trim or package carries over identically between model years. Check availability for trims like Tradesman, Big Horn, Laramie, Limited, and specialty editions. Sometimes newer model years adjust feature packaging or expand availability across trims.
Step 3: Compare Technology Features
Both model years include the Uconnect® 5 system and available large touchscreen options. However, 2026 may include minor software updates or expanded feature access depending on trim. Verify whether your preferred technology—such as advanced driver-assist features or premium audio—is included.
Step 4: Evaluate Suspension and Ride Options
If ride comfort matters to you, confirm whether the Active-Level™ Four Corner Air Suspension is available in the trim you’re considering. This feature remains a key differentiator in the Ram lineup.
Step 5: Consider Pricing and Incentives
Newer model years may carry updated pricing, while previous-year models sometimes offer incentives. Compare total value, not just base price, when making your decision.
Step 6: Test Drive Both
If available, drive both model years. Pay attention to ride comfort, cabin noise, throttle response, and overall feel.
By following these steps, you can determine whether the 2025 or 2026 Ram 1500 best aligns with your needs, budget, and feature preferences.
