Dodge Announces New Safety Security Feature to Prevent Theft for Dodge Challenger and Charger Owners

New Security Features
Dodge recently introduced a new anti-theft feature for specific Dodge Challenger and Charger models. It comes in the form of an update that adds a new Security Mode which limits the engine to idle speed. This update is free to owners of 2015-2021 Dodge Challenger and Charger models equipped with the 392 V8 or the supercharged 6.2L V8 engines. Owners with eligible models can take their Challenger or Charger into any certified Dodge dealer (like here at Stony Plain CDJR in Stony Plain, AB) to receive their free update.
How It Works
The new Security Mode feature uses second-level security encryption via the Uconnect 4C infotainment system to limit the engine output to less than three horsepower. The feature will be controlled via a 4-digit number, though it’s currently unclear how the 4-digit number will be chosen and whether the owner will have to enter the number every time they drive. The software update is set to roll out by the end of Q2 2021 (31 June 2021).
